‘Dark Sky Dome’ Planetarium – Chasing Stars!

A thrilling event for the whole family. A portable indoor planetarium dome operated by the Cranborne Chase National Landscape team.

Mere is fortunate to sit within the Cranborne Chase International Dark Sky Reserve; one of only 27 in the world.

Steve Tonkin will join us to share his expertise as the official Dark Sky Advisor. Steve will bring a planetarium with him and the children will be able to experience a 45 minute planetarium session where they will be immersed in a dark sky environment.

They will learn about the sun, the moon, the planets and beyond. This will be a truly special experience that the children will remember for years to come and will enhanced their understanding and help them to navigate the night sky all the more.

This session will be hosted in the Mere Lecture Hall. Audiences will sit on the floor inside the dome, with shoes removed. The dome features a projection system on the interior surface to deliver the show.

Children attending the show should be 7 or older and must be accompanied by an adult. Entrance is FREE, but you will need to book a ticket to reserve your place.
